Personalized Interest Travel Credit Options (“Travel for Credit”)

Requirements For Credit

-          Student Proposed Project based on curriculum outcomes from approved NB High School courses

-          Individual Plan created in conjunction with mentor teacher (s) which will include:

o   Both General and Specific Benchmarks which will be reviewed weekly and monthly with the mentor teacher

o   General benchmarks will include mastery of audio-visual skills (photography, video editing), geography (of tour locations), History of tour locations, cultural analysis, language.  General benchmarks will be the same for all student’s interested in receiving a credit and will be based on various assignments chosen by the teacher and will pertain to the countries that will be visited on tour

o   Specific benchmarks tied to student’s area of interest guided by mentor teacher to provide student with an enriched experiential learning experience (history, tourism, geography, sociology, culinary, fashion technology, culture, language, architecture, archeology, anthropology, dramatic arts, political systems, etc.)

o   Specific targets and activities which must be completed on tour and may include collaboration with local Europeans (previously arranged)

o   Final summative assessment after returning from the trip

-          Can be completed during a class period as part of the student’s schedule or may also be completed on student’s own time
